Maya Angelou, Dies at 86

Poet and essayist Maya Angelou died Wednesday at the age of 86, her publisher, Random House, has confirmed.

Love free things? Then you are in luck. That's because Saturday, May 3rd, happens to be Free Comic Book Day. This means that you can walk into any participating store and get yourself one (or multiple) copies of your favorite comic book. The best part is that this special day is celebrated by comic book retailers all over the world.
Now in its twelfth year, the annual event that is held on the first Saturday of May, is a collaboration between comic book publishers, retailers and distributors. It was established to introduce the joy of comic books to young readers and to get them to visit their neighborhood comic book store. Since 2002, vendors have given away over 12 million special edition comic books, and the numbers are only growing.

Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, and Austin Mahone are among the biggest music nominees for this weekend’s Radio Disney Music Awards. But Radio Disney doesn’t just plan to honor music stars. They’ll also present three young change-makers with a Hero for Change Award, including 17-year-old Matthew Kaplan, who was nominated by Youth Services America. The Radio Disney Music Awards will air on Disney Channel on Sunday, April 27, at 8 p.m. E.T.

In a scene reminiscent of those ubiquitous AT&T commercials in which a gaggle of precocious kids acts as a “focus group,” first lady Michelle Obama released a video on Monday of herself and comedian Will Ferrell quizzing a group of adorable tots about veggies and healthy lifestyles as part of the week-long celebration of the four-year anniversary of the “Let’s Move” campaign.

Ferrell appears confused about what might constitute a nutritious diet. “No entire honeybaked hams?” he asks incredulously.
